We used to sell a good number of the DBNPA Test Kits. Then I got and processed an order and was told that the test kit was no longer available. One of the reagents was no longer made.
It took a while for Lovibond to develop a work around. There was no literature available for it. But I asked for the instructions and the reagent list.
I am an analytical chemist. I recognized the test kit to be a variant of a total halide test. But instead of expressing the result as total Chlorine or Bromine it is expressed as DBNPA by measuring the Bromide in the DBNPA. Thus, the huge downside is that you cannot test for DBNPA in the presence of Chlorine. When I worked in the field, I almost always used Chlorine with the DBNPA.
If that is your application, this replacement test kit will not work for you.

This test is suitable for the determination of DBNPA (2,2-dibromo-3nitrilopropionamide) in industrial water systems. DBNPA is used as a nonoxidising biocide to control bacteria in open systems, often in combination with a second biocide. DBNPA is a fast acting biocide that hydrolyses rapidly in alkaline conditions to non-hazardous by products.
